Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Should education funding be directed to families through a voucher, scholarship, or education savings account so that parents can send their children to the school of their choice, including non-public schools? Y* Geography, health, personality, financial resources, learning style - all these influence what school is best for the child. Competition in education keeps all schools sharper. Educational diversity is also good for teachers and support staff and helps retain talent.
2. Should marijuana be legalized for recreational use? Y* Marijuana, like alcohol, is not good for everyone, but everyone has a right to manage what they put into their own body. If people wish to grow their own so they can control the soil and water quality, I support that. However, education about the mind-altering and potentially permanent deleterious effects of marijuana, especially for those under age 25, should be emphasized. Legal does not equal "safe."
3. Should the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act be amended to include “sexual orientation” and “gender identity,” which would require public schools and other public facilities to open up restrooms and locker rooms to members of the opposite sex? N
4. Should Pennsylvania enter into the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which would include a new carbon tax on electricity producers? N
5. Should increases in state government spending be limited to the rate of inflation plus population growth? Y* Every program which can be removed from taxpayer funding should be removed. Putting dollars back into the hands of the local people allows them to proactively solve their own problems.
6. Should our state constitution be amended to prevent taxpayer funding for elective abortions? Y* Under no circumstances should taxpayer monies be used to fund abortions on any level or in any way; this includes eliminating all indirect funding of any sort. Money flows like water wherever it is needed. Let the abortion activists personally pay for the abortions they believe are so essential to the health of women.
7. Should all voters be required to show identification before voting? Y* It should be a photo ID. With surveillance cameras everywhere, the ability to avoid being photographed no longer exists. ID without a photo is of highly questionable efficacy and is ripe for fraud.
8. Should the state reduce police funding to increase funding for social services? N* Social services and police services are different entities. While they influence each other, their relationship is not a clear one-to-one balance. Funding for one should not be impacted by funding for the other.
9. Should public schools be prohibited from allowing males who identify as females to compete in girls’ sports? Y
10. Should schools have to post curriculum online for review by parents and taxpayers? Y* Yes, and permanently. Parents are very busy; they should have free access to curriculum without restriction, not be restricted by a one-month review period or other narrow window.
11. Should Pennsylvania municipalities be permitted to require a vaccine passport? N* This is a ridiculous intrusion by the government which neither medicine nor science warrants.
12. Should the gasoline tax be permanently reduced? Y
