Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Should all voters be required to show identification before voting? Y* Some sort of identification, even if it's just their voter registration. I wouldn't be against requiring a photo ID to supplement, but voter fraud is so rare and inconsequential to the election results that I don't see a need to push very hard for it.
2. Should the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act be amended to include "sexual orientation" and "gender identity," which could require public schools and other public facilities to open up restrooms and locker rooms to members of the opposite sex? Y* Society and Science are at a point now where someone's gender assigned at birth can be unrecognizable from their current gender identity. It is no longer reasonable to try and keep people from using a certain restroom based solely on their outward appearance. I understand there are concerns about individuals with bad intentions going into restrooms, but criminals come in all different varieties to include all gender identities. Americans should have the freedom to use any toilet, any time.
3. Should marijuana be legalized and sold commercially for recreational use? Y* There are many benefits to the legalization of marijuana, and they far exceed the negatives. While I personally don't approve of my friends' and family members' use of the product, I don't believe their possession of a medical marijuana card should hinder their ability to possess a concealed carry permit. There are also some legal complications when it comes to medical use cards when a driver is involved in a vehicular incident. Even if it is just a single-car incident, a medical marijuana card possessor can be charged with a DUI even if they are not significantly impaired.
4. Should increases in state government spending be limited to the rate of inflation plus population growth? N* There may be cases where that is a good guideline, but the government needs to retain the flexibility of spending to cover emergencies and other priority cases that may arise.
5. Should Pennsylvania make cuts to the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) student scholarship program? N* In this age where inflation is rampant and wages are stagnant; we need to protect scholarship programs now more than ever.
