| 3. Should marijuana be legalized and sold commercially for recreational use? | N* | I will say that this is a broad statement. Meaning that it does not address what restrictions would or would not be placed on it, etc. For example, would it be allowed in public or treated like alcohol where we have open container laws? Regardless, I continue to oppose legalization for recreational use, but I also don't think government should be in the business of entering someone's home solely for the purpose of enforcing basic possession charges, etc. So I am open to a certain amount of decriminalization and/or common sense penalties that suit the given crime/situation. Further, we also need to continue to improve upon field sobriety testing so that we aren't ruining people's lives (and hurting their families in the process) for trace amounts of marijuana for which a comparable amount of alcohol would not be illegal. So I oppose but with common sense enforcement. |
